Billing agreement
Subscription Terms
These terms explain Fjord’s recurring subscriptions, message allowances, cancellation, and one-time Bonus Message purchases.
Effective: August 14, 2026 · Version: 2026-08-14-1
1. How these terms apply
These Subscription Terms supplement Fjord’s Terms of Service. They apply when you purchase or use a paid Fjord subscription. If these Subscription Terms conflict with the general Terms on a subscription-specific matter, these Subscription Terms govern that matter. The Privacy Policy explains how billing-related personal information is handled.
2. Plans, prices, and taxes
Before purchase, Fjord identifies the selected plan, included monthly tutor-message allowance, billing interval, charge amount, currency, and renewal frequency. Displayed prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes unless expressly stated otherwise. Stripe calculates applicable tax from the billing information supplied at checkout and displays the authoritative subtotal, tax, and total before payment. Fjord does not calculate a single tax rate locally.
3. Recurring billing and automatic renewal
Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. By checking the recurring-charge authorization and proceeding to Stripe, you authorize Fjord and Stripe to charge your payment method at the price and frequency displayed at checkout, plus applicable taxes. Monthly plans charge every month, three-month plans charge one upfront amount every three months, and 12-month plans charge one upfront amount every 12 months. Your subscription page displays Stripe’s current renewal date after purchase.
4. Message allowances
Each paid plan includes the monthly tutor-message allowance displayed before purchase. The allowance resets monthly on the billing-cycle anchor maintained by Stripe, including during prepaid three-month and 12-month subscriptions. Unused monthly messages do not roll over. A plan’s message allowance is not cash, cannot be transferred, and has no cash redemption value.
5. Bonus Messages
Bonus Messages are a separate, one-time purchase and are not a recurring subscription. The purchase screen shows the number of messages, one-time pre-tax price, and applicable-tax disclosure. Purchased Bonus Messages do not expire under Fjord’s current offer and are used after the available subscription allowance. Eligibility rules and refund treatment are described on the purchase screen and in the Refund, Cancellation & Renewal Policy.
6. Cancellation and access
You may cancel without contacting support through Subscribe → Cancel or manage, which opens Stripe’s customer portal. Normal cancellation is scheduled for the end of the current paid billing period: future renewal stops, no further recurring charge is scheduled, and paid access continues until the end date shown. Where Stripe supports it, you may undo a scheduled cancellation before that date. Deleting an account is separate from cancelling a subscription; cancel active billing before deleting your account.
7. Plan and interval changes
Available upgrades, downgrades, and billing-interval changes are presented through Stripe’s portal. Stripe is the source of truth for the new price, effective date, and any charge or credit. Fjord’s current portal is configured to avoid hidden prorations and to schedule qualifying downgrades or shorter intervals at the billing boundary. Review Stripe’s confirmation carefully before approving a change.
8. Failed payments
If payment fails, Stripe may retry collection and send payment notices according to Fjord’s then-current Stripe recovery settings. Access may be temporarily restricted and the subscription may eventually be cancelled. Fjord does not promise a particular retry schedule because Stripe’s configured recovery behavior may change.
9. Refunds
Refund eligibility is governed by Fjord’s Refund, Cancellation & Renewal Policy and mandatory consumer rights. Fjord currently offers a 14-day guarantee on an account’s first subscription purchase. Renewals and used Bonus Messages are generally non-refundable, subject to the exceptions and non-waivable rights described in that policy.
10. Discounts, promotions, and price changes
Promotional or discounted prices apply only as disclosed. A three-month or annual equivalent monthly price is informational; the actual upfront recurring charge is the amount shown for the full interval. Fjord may change future prices subject to applicable law and required notice. A changed recurring price will not be imposed as a surprise mid-cycle charge.
11. Stripe, receipts, and records
Stripe processes payments and securely handles payment-method information. Fjord does not store full card numbers or CVCs. Stripe supplies invoices or receipts, and Fjord may send a subscription confirmation or renewal notice containing non-sensitive transaction details. You can access current billing details, invoices, cancellation status, and these written terms through Fjord and Stripe’s portal.
12. Consumer rights and contact
Nothing in these Subscription Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived. Automatic-renewal, reminder, cancellation, and disclosure requirements vary by location and may require future updates. Billing questions may be sent to support@usefjord.com or through the contact form.
